Sophia Bentoh + Sunanda Chandry Koning Catwalk Fashion Show MBFWA SS2018

Togo born print designer Sophia Bentoh presented her eclectic new collection this afternoon. A mix of kaleidoscopic designs styled in the most fun (large jewelry, sunglasses, headscarfs, crowns, dr. Martens and out of the box bags) way. A show both rhythmic and ethnic that felt refreshing, original and fun. Ibileye presents layered prints and pieces for both women and men, for city nomads who dare to stand out with mixed colours and patterns. And these designs will do just that.

The Sunanda Chandry Koning spoke more of gender blending than of new clothing styles for next summer. The show images say it all.

Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture Show Paris FW2017

With Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2017, Viktor&Rolf presented a parade of Haute Couture Action Dolls: a surreal yet playful fashion team of stylised Viktor&Rolf mascots, rooting for a world that is creative, diverse and eco-conscious.

Their outfits consist of a bomber jacket, jeans and a t-shirt. Various doll elements, including fabric-covered faces and bodies are fragmented and mingled into an extreme patchwork statement.

Patchwork continues to explore the idea of upcycling. It also serves to symbolise a wish for harmony: to create unity through diversity.

Summer Streetwear Trend 2017: On the Phone

Whether they’re sending import e-mails or just aimlessly scrolling through our Instagram feed; today’s streetstyle stars won’t go anywhere without their phones. And it so happens that looking busy (while just passing time waiting for the next show) makes for such a cool streetwear image. Being on the phone (a trend for sure) won’t go out of style any time soon.

These pictures were taken during last month’s menswear Paris Fashion Week.

Fabienne Chapot Catwalk Fashion Show SS2018

Move over avocado, it’s time for the papaya to shine and take over as it-veggie! That is, if you leave it up to Fabienne Chapot and her design team. For SS2018 they decided it was all about papaya’s. An exotic story starting as soon as the guests received their papaya-themed invite. On Wednesday night the story unfolded at a show venue completely turned into a sixties style garden party. An entrance covered in papaya print and rainbow colored stairs sure got everyone in the mood for some cocktails, watermelon and jelly pudding. And as all guests took their seats a little later it really actually felt as if we were witnessing a Beverly Hills hotel scene from 1957 and we could almost feel the Hollywood heat (so those papaya printed fans on our seats came in handy).

Fashion wise the collection was everything you’d want a summer collection to be. Colorful, effortless and super feminine. Loose blouses, maxi dresses, wide pants and cropped jackets in the mix. Soft and silk fabrics were embroidered with papaya shaped beads, palm leaves, citrus shapes, lobsters and exotic flowers. Signature items which were even featured on the matching jacquard loafers. Silhouettes were flowy and sexy yet sophisticated, a uncovered shoulder here, a bare back there. Colorful high heels, statement bags (in the shape of tropical fish or shelves), bold sunnies and crazy hairdos topped it all off.

And as we headed back home we thought about that SS2018 Fabienne Chapot girl that got in her car, headed West and gazed outside. It might have been rainy in Amsterdam, but we imagined ourselves out on the warm open road at sundown, driving 60 miles per hour with all four windows down, feeling the wind in our hair and the Hollywood heat on our skin.

Summer Streetwear Trend 2017: Color My World

It’s officially Summer in the City! Short skirts, off shoulders tops, leather sandals and the sunniest sunnies are all you need this week. And when it comes to the latter, there’s lots of options to choose from. From teeny tiny to XL deluxe. And while every Instagram queen seems to be rocking a pair of white colored eye cat sunnies we spotted a different trend out on the streets. That of the colored glasses. Yellow, orange or red, let’s give the world a touch of color and make the city look even sunnier than it already is. Are you wearing your vintage Ray Bans, your floral encrusted Dolce & Gabbanas or perhaps a brand new sparkly pair of Gucci sunglasses? Sun’s out, sunnies out! Have a good one!

Summer Streetwear Trend 2017: Bold colors, statement suits

Give a girl a statement suit and she can conquer the world. No seriously a bold suit goes a long way. It work for business meetings, family dinners, fashion parties and just about everything in between. And as shoulders are turning into fashion’s focus point the statement suit of this summer has quite a lot to offer. It is bright colored, oversized and preferably has some kind of accentuated shoulder (pointy, strong, rounded). Something the influencers and streetstyle stars in our gallery already knew months ago. See how Carolina, Doina, Rebecca and Leonore worked this trend during the latest fashion week season. And yes, your hems will get dirty and distroyed, but it’s all part of the oversized, overstated look. Now it’s up to you to decide which sorbet shade you’re going to rock in the upcoming months.

Summer Streetwear Trend 2017: PJ Party

The pajama inspired look just doesn’t seem to get old. After having worked our satin PJ’s in evert major fashion capital we’re slowly moving over to robe dressing. Whether velvet, satin or kimono inspired wearing a robe outdoors is now officially the chicest thing. A trend obviously inspired by the catwalk collections of Haider Ackermann, Lanvin and Burberry. Wear it with some chunky sandals or a good pair of denim jeans to give it that contemporary, urban feel. And of course don’t forget the it-bag, the designer sunnies and that extra cool out of bed hair style. The robe keeps you warm and makes it easy to hide those extra pounds you’d love to shed. Yet another extremely comfy summer trend coming your way. Get up, have breakfast and go!

Summer Streetwear Trend 2017: Side Stripes

Athleisure is all the rage these days. So your wardrobe isn’t complete without a pair of bold trainers, colored hoodies, bomber jackets and statement joggers. Especially the latter have proved to be extremely fashionable and versatile. I mean who would have thought in 2017 you’d be able to attend a meeting in a pair of black and red striped jogging pants? As you can see in our gallery above the styling can make or break the outfit. But the trick is to start thinking of joggers as a neat pair of pleated pants. So mix them up with a deconstructed blouse and some adidas sneakers or pair them with your Gucci (it)-sweater and some good leather loafers. Easy does it and going out was never this comfy.
