Milan Fashion Week FW2018 Trend Recap

The fashion train has ended at it’s last stop and the fashion crowd is rocking it’s final and most photogenic streetstyles at Paris Fashion Week. But before we discuss what’s new with LV, Givenchy and Chanel, let’s recap what styles Milano brought us for the new season. And there is lots to discuss. Gucci and Prada both scaled down the size of their shows. There were drones (Dolce & Gabbana) and dragons (Gucci) on the runway. We witnessed shows at a race court (Tommy Hilfiger) as well as in a hoarder’s garage (Marni). Bottega Veneta left Milan Fashion Week and Tommy Hilfiger landed his tour in de Italian city. There was a good game of dressing up (Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci) as well as some dressing down (Missoni, Marni). The seventies (Etro, Ferragamo) were a big theme as well as the eighties (Albera Ferretti, Versace). Belts (Marni, Etro) and blankets (MSGM, Jil Sander) both formed big trends as we went from bright and colourful (Moschino) to off colour (Max Mara). Have we sparked your interest yet? Check out our galleries with the 7 biggest fall/winter trends for 2018.

Trend Report SS2018: Get Sporty

Let’s just hope this trend never gets out of fashion. ‘Cause do we ever really (want to) wear anything else besides trainers and hoodies? Luckily for SS2018 it’s still allowed to release the Sporty Spice within. Although that sporty style did get some updates too. Being a good sport when it comes to this trend means dressing both practically as well as feminine. So it’s all about tight bodies with high zippers and tulle skirts (Dior), tight leggings and cropped jackets (Tommy Hilfiger), loose fitting yet off shoulder zipped up jackets (Lacoste), hot pants and running jackets (Isabel Marant) and highly accessorized sporty suits (Gucci). And let’s not forget the suncaps, the beanies, the cross body bags and the gloves. Ready for a good game of extreme sports while showing of your best body parts. Fast fashion never looked this good.

Trend Report SS2018: The Deconstructed Trench

As spring flowers are starting the sprung we can already smell the new fashion season that is around the corner. And as excited we are for temperatures to start rising we simply can’t wait to indulge in some of those brand new spring trends. High on our spring/summer trend list and probably one of the trends we’ll be able to wear outside the soonest is that of the (deconstructed) trench coat. It’s been popping up for a few seasons already, yet this time around we’re officially calling it a trend as houses like Céline, Balenciaga, Chloé and Valentino have played their bets on it as well. Whether camel or sand colored, fringed, layered, cut-out, sliced, oversized or even in the form of a duo coat (Balenciaga); the trench is the ultimate spring coat. Pair this classic with a hoodie or over a denim jacket (for a youthful/sporty touch) and some extra layers for now. Throw it open and show some off that tea dress (and some sexy legs) in a few months.

Trend Report SS2018: Eighties by day

Another eighties revival in fashion means shoulders once again are the focus point in many summer silhouettes. If it’s up to Gucci, Saint Laurent and Off White big, rounded shoulders are a ‘thing’ again. Preferably combined with something leg revealing (Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant) or high waisted and high heeled (Y project, Off white). An eighties color(black) palette of mint greens and purples is in order as well. Now let’s see if you still got those eighties dance moves to match!

From skirts and dresses to capes and bags, a little fringe goes and long way (and probably has you twirling all through summer season). Whether denim or leather, bright colored or boho inspired, this trend will easily work its way into the wardrobes of girls with the most diverse taste in fashion. Just click through our gallery and you’ll see Bottega Veneta, Céline, Dior, Calvin Klein and Loewe all had such different fringe-interpretations. Different, yet all so very likable!

Trend Report SS2018: Fancy a Fanny Pack?

Was it from the catwalk to the streets or vice versa? With the fanny pack trend it seems the streets were the true inspiration for designers like Balenciaga, Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang to put their focus on it. As fanny packs have been trending out in the streets/on the Instagram wild life for quite a while now. No wonder the most street wise labels are introducing their take on the both easiest and coolest handbag around. Whether sporty (Balenciaga, Fenty) or chic (Ferragamo, Rochas), worn cross body or high waisted the fanny pack is your it-bag for the upcoming season.

Think of one trend that has SUMMER written all over it. Yep, it’s that of bright colors, a trend that comes and goes every few seasons. This summer it’s all about full on colored looks in shades of mostly red (Salvatore Ferragamo, Christopher Kane, Calvin Klein) and yellow (Balenciaga, Caroline Herrara, Calvin Klein). Plus some head to toe green (Gucci), blue (Lacoste), purple (Kenzo) and pink (Stella McCartney, Oscar de la Renta, Jeremy Scott) in the mix. Ultimate SS2018 item? A bright colored summer dress with touches of lace and/or an outstanding neckline. No better way to celebrate summer and a guaranteed all eyes on you whether you enter the office or the club.

You might have never worn them for any other occasion than Christmas dinner or New Years drinks, yet in a few months you’ll be rocking summer sequins like there’s no tomorrow. If you feel inspired by the likes of Fendi, Gucci and Marc Jacobs, that is. All top brands that included some sparkly sequins into their SS2018 collections and made us rethink that whole dresscode. Of course you can still opt for a summer proof statement making party number. But we currently favour the casual/glam combination Marc Jacobs sent out on his runway. I mean who doesn’t dream of aqua colored sequined pants paired with a yellow parka, fanny pack and a turban on a slightly cold spring day? Just click through our gallery and this trend will surely spark your interest.

Fall/Winter Catwalk Trend 2017/2018: Pretty X-mas Sweaters

So it appears every Christmas party has an ‘Ugly Christmas Sweater dresscode’ these days. The ultimate excuse to go all out during your company’s X-mas drinks or that pre-X-mas dinner at your friends house. Decorated by lights, music and 3D red nose reindeer; it doesn’t get any more festive. Still, for those of you who still like to keep things classy, even when horrible dresscode apply, we’ve selected some extra sweaters. Warm, absolute Christmas proof, perhaps with a fun little twist here and there, oversized and sparkly, but always chic and sharp. So can you still be you and nobody has to argue whether your sweater is ugly enough or not. That’s just a matter of taste, right?! Have fun dressing up! Happy Holidays!
