It’s been one of the biggest growing make-up trends and it’s here to stay (FW2018 is already further elaborating on this trend): metallics! And we don’t jus mean a shiny eye shadow we’re talking Kira Kira, bling bling! So this comes down to chunky, shiny beads, glitters and sequins on eyes (Undercover), cheeks (Jeremy Scott), lips (Dries van Noten) and hands (Scognamiglio). It’s like wearing a new piece of jewelry, on your face! So don’t hold back and live your metallic make-up moment to the fullest. Sparkle, shimmer and shine bright like a diamond!
Forget fisherman’s hats and flat caps, if your hat game is going to be anything this season it’s bold and out of the box! No rules, no restrictions; if you want to give this hat trend a good chance you go all out! So start vintage shopping and market strolling for the craziest, most ridiculous and extraordinary hat or head piece and rock it like your life’s depending on it. A big (Easter bunny) bow as seen at Delpozo perhaps? A funky cap in the brightest pink (see Area and Byblos)? A safari hat (Loewe) or the floppiest of all hats out there (Missoni)? A sporty sun cap (Fenty), an extra elegant braided hat (Comey) or a simple scarf tied around the head in the most classic way. Hats off to this trend for making dress up styles become (somewhat) everyday pieces.
Aloha! No matter the temperature; SS2018 is going to be exotic. Marc Jacobs went all out with kaftans and turbans in the most colorful and tropical prints. At Versace skirts and bikini tops were just as bright and poppy. Gucci sent out the ultimate Hawaiian inspired skirt suit (paired with glittery gloves and a pile of necklaces). As Dries van Noten created the chicest flora and fauna print mix. At Elie Saab we witnessed a complete line-up of palm tree inspired/printed dresses. And then Peter Pilotto and Delpozo joined in on the foreign fun. If this image gallery doesn’t get you in the mood for hot summer days and long summer nights, we don’t know what will. Be Palm Beach ready whatever beach you’ll be flaunting around on.
Whoever ditched her earrings for season after season (like we did) is now in for a treat. Time to change up the accessory game and stack up on some fresh ear pieces. Right, it’s not just rings or studs anymore. A good ear party requires some out of the box thinking. Who doesn’t want a pink horse (like Gigi at Maxwell) in her ears? Or why not go all out with the loveliest, asymmetrical flower pieces? Speaking of asymmetry, Missoni and Zimmerman painted a pretty one statement piece picture. We spotted life size pearls at Undercover as well as the chunkiest metallic hoops at Fenty. Chandelier inspired designs made their way onto the Dries van Noten and Etro runway. As Acne went for something quite arty. Lots of style options for a good game of ear accessorizing. And might you think this is all still a little too subtle? The combination of powerful eye make-up and a stunner ear game worked pretty well at Comey, Undercover, Marni and Antonio Marras. So. join in on the fun while it lasts and have a great ear party!
From perfect picnic plaids to subtle tweed patterns; the summer check is here. From grey colored head to toe suit up looks (Ralph Lauren) to vibrant dresses (Marni) the summer plaid comes in enough shapes and sizes to have just about everyone joining in on the fun. A waist belt (McQueen) and/or bare legs (Versus) add for some sexiness. Although Rykiel proves you can look just as feminine in an oversized, checked kaftan. Clown meets cool might be the perfect description for this look. And your number one go to shop destination for this look? Burberry will have you checked up with the coolest summer looks. Now let’s start stacking up on some checks!
Never though you’d be wearing a suit off duty? Think again. This summer you’re bound to suit up for just about any occasion given the fact that this business chic look comes in many different options. From pastel colored (Victoria Beckham, Gucci, MaxMara) and striped (Dolce & Gabbana, Emporio Armani) to denim (Dior) and extra vibrant (Versace, Marc Jacobs). Have your pick and start casualizing (if that was ever a word). Just add sneakers, a fanny pack, brooches (Dries van Noten), a beret (Dior), a good pair of sunnies (Gucci) as well as a good pair of loafers (Galliano) and you can go from desk to dinner (or dawn). Office proof meets street chic. Let’s suit up for summer!
If you’d had to pick the ultimate Easter brunch look this trend offers you all the inspiration you might need. Besides, nothing says ‘spring’ like a pastel perfect ensemble. Just ask Bottega Veneta, Dries van Noten and Marni, to name just a few. From baby blue and peach to lavender and lemon; your favorite sorbet flavour might just make the ultimate on trend look. Whether fringe (Bottega Veneta) or fur (Burberry), shiny (Tom Ford) or sheer (Carolina Herrera) this flirty and feminine look matches any style. Yet we’re mostly crushing the pink + yellow Céline, a color combination we’re probably going to see a lottt this summer. Are you feeling the soft color palette? And if so, which pastel party will you be attending?
Spring is in the air and fashion month is over. Time to elaborate on everything we’ve seen. You’ve seen our Milan Recap now let’s summ up some of the Paris Fashion Week highlights. In terms of beauty the sky was the limit as gold colored hair, rainbow eyeshadow and extraordinary frizz made it’s way onto the runway. Fashion wise big themes were protective (layers) of clothing), futuristic, shiny designs, the eighties, cinched waists, logomania, crazy headpieces, plaids and a good mixing game of street and chic. And while you probably don’t want to wear anything else but your pj’s now, after a month filled with fashion, here’s what to look forward to. Five trends you’ll be rocking a year from now.
So truth be said, nude lips are all the rage for the upcoming season. Yet, as the story goes with classics, a good red lip never goes out of style. And so for spring/summer 2018 many make-up artists went for a statement lip. Fun fact is that this time around that statement lip varies from super sharp to completely smudged. Razer sharp were the deep red lips at Kenzo, picture perfect one by one. The biggest contrast compared to the extremely smudged lips at Gucci. The shape of Sies Marjan’s orange colored lips was right in between and at Margiela lips looked like stamps. And then there were the models at Sonia Rykiel, Blumarine, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Temperly London with their perfect pouts. Au natural may be trending, red hot is still a ‘thing’. Whether sharp or smudged, let’s paint this town red (orange and burgundy). Kiss kiss, bang bang.
For Natacha Ramsay-Levi’s second collection the designer was inspired by seventies actresses such as Anjelica Huston, Sissy Spacek, Isabelle Huppert, and Stéphane Audran. So with images of those power women in mind she came up with a seventies inspired collection of elegant yet playful looks. Deep V neck dresses, turtle neck jumpsuits, high waisted flared pants, elongated blazers, blouses with wide sleeves and decorated cuffs/bangles. All done in earthy tones, seventies prints in the mix. Slouchy hips belts and long pendant necklaces worn over high collars. Models got minimal make-up and a Isabelle Huppert hairdo. Bonus points for the coats; a selection of unstructured trenches and a short fur coat looked like the ultimate fall musthaves. And a fresh line-up of Chloé bags as well as the laced up ankle boots and Chloé logo socks will surely boost sales. A seventies throwback with just the right dose of ‘nowness’.
Our own fashiondictionary Kirking It is a verb, as in: you are kirking! It means to fall asleep while eating dinner with colleagues, while gently rolling ones upper body in a semicircle while wanting to go to sleep, eyes flipping inward uncontrollably. It happens because of jetlag and is age related. There is no cure yet.
