It was an exciting day today at the second day of Arnhem Mode Biennale. Team Peter Stigter held their first workshop ever in collaboration with Dudok Arnhem. Thirteen men and women registered for the workshop streetfashion photography and they picked out a wonderful sunny day.

First Peter Stigter and Joris Bruring held a short lecture about the history of streetphotography – Henry Cartier Bresson, Bill Cunningham, The Sartorialist – and after a delicious lunch in the garden of Dudok Arnhem the students were sent off to the centre of Arnhem. Guided by one of our teammembers- Jon, Jeannette or Joris – they had to practice what they learned. And it wasn’t easy. We really admire their courage and the way they worked at the streets, it’s not easy to handle people and stay focused at the same time!

Daily favorites in Paris

It was a busy day yesterday, and a good day. Inspiring collections from Balenciaga and Rick Owens, while Ann Demeulemeester and AF vandeVorst choose their own path. My favorites of thursday were the return of models like Stella Tennant at the runway of Balenciaga. I love it when designers decide not to go for the blond Caucasian girls who all seem to look alike but to choose different types instead. And Tennant looked great.

Manish Aurora is a designer that fascinates me. He just does his own thing and keeps on presenting collections that make you happy and smile. I mean, I don’t think I will even wear one of his designs but I love the way he brings that Indian vibe – messy, colorful, over the top, ethnic – to the fashioncapital of the world with all his o so serious looking fashionpeople.

I think the vandeVorst-show was about feminine knights regarding the silver armor-wear and the banner that one of the models carried during the show. The designduo likes to dress strong women who protect themselves with an ultra feminine yet tough style. I personally liked the drapes dress in gray with a wet finish, underneath the dress was a silver body.

And the show of Rick Owens was the best of the day in my opinion. His dark shows alway gives me shivers, but yesterday his show made my heart jump. The women looked like goddesses from another planet, so gracious and proud.

Daily favorites in Paris

Every day there is a short list of favorites I’ve seen at the shows. Yesterday the collection of Dries really stood out because of his extra-ordinairy and casual mix of masculine and feminine looks, especially the oversized jackets I loved.

I was also struck by the hair and make up at Limi Feu, the big wide curly hair, one eye hidden and the other made up with black eyeliner and a thick layer of mascara. An the soundtrack was great too, classical music mixed with phrases sung by Billy Holiday.

The day ended with Rue du Mail by Martine Sitbon. The designer played with sheer, colored layers over black or cream dresses. My favorite is the blue dress with visible seams and pleats. The layering look very dynamic and modern.
