Trussardi Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2012

The spring/summer Trussardi collection was one of the first designed by brand’s new creative director Umit Benan. And for a newcomer, who has more experience in menswear, it was a good start.
Looks were clean, wearable and – indeed – somewhat menswear inspired. Oversized jackets were worn with pleated trousers, men’s shirts were mixed with high wasted pants and unisex items like jumpsuits, trench coats and tunic dresses were presented on the runway.
But even though a lot of the designs could’ve come straight out of a man’s closet, the models never looked too boxy/masculine. That is, thanks to the waist belts, elegant sandals and beautiful leather bags.
Every look seemed perfect according to today’s trends. There weren’t any surprises, but you could tell every piece of clothing was beautifully made. Kudos for Benan, he’s off to a good start!
Blumarine Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2012

It seems like cropped tops are going to be the hit of next summer. We spotted them in New York, London and now in Milan as well. At Blumarine they came in many versions; off shoulder, bandeau and biker jacket. Combined with shorts and skirts there was a lot of skin on show.
But maybe those items are exactly what you want during a hot summer. Besides there was enough to choose from for the more ‘formal’ summer events. Like cute black tea dresses with neon floral prints. Or matchy matchy (pajama) looks with colorful floral patterns on them.
Anna Molinari even showed a bit of a kinky side during the end of the show when she presented full black looks with crocodile leather, sequins and feathers. She could have held back a bit on the styling side, since all looks were a bit too much of everything. Those enormous floral accessories seemed a little childish too. Big earrings are one of the many trends for SS2012, but these ones just felt wrong.
But Molinari did show versatility. So if you’re not a big fan of the dark fetish theme, you might just fall in love with some of the bright, flirty fifties-style dresses.

The perfect mix of casual wear and sportswear, that’s how you’d describe the new C’N’C’ collection. It’s the right timing for the label, since sporty influences are a big trend for next spring.
And C’N’C’ used the theme beautifully in it’s new collection. Colors changed subtly during the show; from emerald green to white, yellow, nude, pink and black. Leather pants were mixed with cool tops and hoodies, all in one shade. Pants, which showed just a little bit of ankle were styled with short leather jackets. Blouses and tops made of sheer fabrics were worn over bandeau tops.
One by one outfits which you can easily work into your wardrobe and all looks in which you can do a good workout as well. That is, if you change the brogues and wedges into sneakers. Let’s just hit the gym!

Today’s Etro show was more graphical and lighter than previous collections. It was out with the good old paisley prints and in with the new digital ones. The clothes still looked as lovely as ever.
There were modern versions of twenties dresses, high waisted shorts and jumpsuits, done in an original mix of shades.
Fringes, pleated underskirts and eyecatching linings made the simple cut dresses extra special. And some enormous earrings and cute handbags topped it off.
Antonio Marras Catwalk Fashion Show Milan ss2012

It was a very feminine and soft collection Antonio Marras sent out this morning. It moved between elegance and casual, color and nudes, prints and plain colors. Marras started with floral prints for draped blouses and floaty dresses with a romantic touch. Several emsembles also reminded ofItalian bombshells, like an animal-print jacket teamed with a bra and pencil skirt, or a curvy dress with a molded bust. For the finale, Marras sent out a group of his familiar folkloric looks. Black and white, blue, purple and red dominated the collection.

This morning Rossela Jardini took us on a trip to the South of Spain where wowed us some with flamenco and matador influenced fashion. To the usual strong black and white looks, she added lots of embroideries (gold and colored), fringes, lace and golden coins.
Some models wore their hair in braids around their hat, others sported crazy hat pieces, like monteras, which gave the looks even more drama. The bold shiny jewelery and the golden shoes with multiple ankle straps were also hard to miss.
The silhouette was feminine; tight pants mixed with short jackets, ruffled dresses worn tight around the waist. Apart from a golden/yellow shade Jardini didn’t use any color for their fabrics, but we can’t say it made the collection boring. There were so many details in every look it was hard to check all of that out, before the following model would appear.
So when you’re going for the Espana-look, just slow down on the jewelery and accessories and you’ll look ‘elegante’ to the max. Olé!
D&G Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2012

Today it became clear designer Domenico and Stefano are ending their D&G line with their heads held high. ‘Cause together with their announcement to end with the brand’s diffusion line they showed one of their strongest D&G collections in a while.
After florals and letters, the collection was fully inspired by scarf prints. The most colorful, rich scarf prints came by on blouses, trousers, tops, skirts, dresses and even on shoes and bags! The more clashing the prints were, the better the outfits.
All looks were styled to the extreme; with golden necklaces, earrings, bracelets and sunnies all worn at once. We even saw some larger than life floppy hats. But no matter how over the top the looks were, you can’t blame the designers. They just made sure their very last D&G show was a party and they had fun with it.
And even though we’re sad to miss out on these kind of fun, effortless collections, we shouldn’t be too disappointed to see this second line go. According to the designers the change will lead to their Dolce & Gabbana collection becoming even stronger. Cheers to that!

Blugirl Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2012

Today Blugirl’s models looked like they were heading to some kind of tea party. They were elegantly dresses in cute summer dresses, skirts and tops. All looks were perfectly styled with the right kind of shoe, the perfect little vest, a cute little hat and some nice colored jewelery.
Pastel hues, nudes and bright floral prints made the girls look fresh and flirty. It was a perfect wearable and girly collection, which lots of women will appeal to. It would have been fun though, if we could have seen some more of the maxi-looks (the green maxi skirt with floral printed top was one of our favorite looks of the show). And perhaps a good pair of trousers for the colder days?
Anyway, when it comes to party looks the Blugirl will have more than enough to choose from. Let’s just hope she’s a fan of ruffles, sequins and bare legs!
Max Mara Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2011

The sporty vibe initiated in NYC continues this week in Milan. This morning Max Mara too, presented us with some very sporty designs. Like oversized dresses worn with leggings and short leather ‘baseball’ jackets.
Yet sport wasn’t the only theme of the show; we spotted some minimalism and some sixties as well. Not the Twiggy kind of sixties though, no it was the pure aesthetic of that decade that inspired Ian Griffiths, head of the Max Mara design team. It was the futuristic silhouette and the clean lines that originated from that inspiration.
Everything looked like it was made for comfort. If a jacket didn’t need an extra pocket, it didn’t get one and all kind of other extras (zippers, belts, studs) were left behind for the ultimate minimalism look & feel.
The many camel and sandtones weren’t necessarily new for Max Mara, but the added turquoise hues gave the collection the right amount of summer freshness. It will be an easy-chic summer 2012 with Max Mara.
Alberta Ferretti Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2012

At Ferretti we saw sheerness in all kinds of places, shapes and sizes. Yet it was never overdone, it appeared subtle and sophisticated, like you’d expect from Ferretti.
The designs looked a little more sporty and minimalistic than before and a little less dreamy, which felt good. Due to the use of brights like tangerine, deep blue, yellow and turquoise the outfits seemed more modern and youthful too.
Exotic prints gave the collection a hippie kinda twist, yet Ferretti managed to still keep it very chic.
Apart from a few beaded bags the styling was as simple as it can be; no extreme make-up or hairdos, hardly any jewelry, not a lot of layering.
Ferretti let her ensembles speak for themselves and they sure spoke beautifully.
