Marije Hellwich Tony Marcus Sacharias Amsterdam Catwalk Fashion Show SS2013

Marije Hellwich only presented eight different looks tonight, but still managed to show a mix of mens and womenswear. She opened her show with a sheer floral printed dress, followed by a satin-like menswear look. Later the transparent items (like a very cool menswear rugsack) were mixed with ultra thick neopreen pieces, like an enormous off white coat mixed with a pair of printed pants and a sand colored top combined with a sheer fringed skirt.

Fierce looking models with wet hair and tough boots wore a selection of minimalistic designs at Tony Marcus Sacharias. After two full on white coats Tony added a touch of beige and lightgrey in a third look, which included a skirt and long sleeved stiff top. Several dresses and straight cut capes followed as Tony added some red to his looks. A simple, pure collection; nothing more, nothing less.

Studio Jux Amsterdam Catwalk Fashion Show SS2013

Tonight’s Studio Jux fashion show was closed by a live performance of Cata Pirata. The eclectic singer of the band Skip & Die created the perfect ending of the Young Professional show. Studio Jux showed a selection of very wearable mens and womenswear designs with some ethnic influences. Chunky knitwear pieces were mixed with sheer fabrics and colorful traditional Nepal patterns. Girls wore casual jumpsuits, loose blouses and printed shorts, while guys sported full on denim looks and comfy jackets, all styled off with sporty sneakers. No fuss, just cool fashion items you can actually wear.

To stress the importance of every step in the production process Studio Jux named every single person (a total of 144 people) who had contributed to the making of this collection in their backdrop video, shown at the end.

Bas Kosters Amsterdam Catwalk Fashion Show SS2013

No evening show for Bas Kosters today. Instead he held a matinee show this afternoon. It started with an on stage interview with the famous Margreet Dolman who asked him about the big inspiration for his spring/summer collection…Love!

Turns out when Bas Kosters and his partner broke up after a nine year relationship last year Bas felt he just had to do something with love. When he was ready to leave his grief behind he tattooed the word ‘love’ on his chest and moved on. He used his broken heart experience for his new collection, named Love Fuck Yeah, inspired by the love of his family and friends, the love for himself and his work that strengthened him.

And loaded with love it was. In a nine minute during show Bas gave us all the love he had to give to the tunes of 90 different love tracks (Love for the Sake of Love – Love me like a loaded Gun – Love is a drug). All looks were colorful and printed, like you’d expect from Bas. Prints included checks, dolls and hearts shapes, which maybe looked innocent but in fact were made out of porn images. His bright sequins were heart shaped too and a male model dressed in an enormous tule dress was just too cool for skool.

After all models had left the runway they came up once more picking people out of the audience dancing with them and just sharing the love. Then the church bells rang and the last song started… “Going to the chapel and we gonna get married..”, we heard as Bas wearing a veil came on stage with someone in an enormous heart costume. As a wedding cake was brought on it was clear: Bas is madly in love again and ready to share it with the rest of the world.

Karssenberg-Greidanus Amsterdam Catwalk Fashion Show SS2013

What a way to open a fashion show! At Karssenberg-Greidanus a model, who had her upper body hidden in an enormous balloon came to the door, walked the runway and then let the balloon explode. After that ‘big bang’ the models appeared, wearing muddy wellies mixed with a variation of raincoats and dresses.

Their faces were covered by the same material as the rain capes were made of. Dresses were wrapped around the models’ bodies with thick ribbons. Glass like materials on a long top represented water drops and gave the collection it’s elegant touch.

It certainly didn’t feel like a typical summer collection, but then again that was never Sanne and Cleo’s intention.

Individuals Amsterdam Catwalk Fashion Show SS2013

Should we cover our ears? The Individuals fashion show started with extremely loud and incredibly dark music and looks in shades of broken asphalt to match. Tough models wore ethnic inspired looks that breathed progress, strength and necessity; the three themes of the collection, which was actually a squeal to the previous Individuals collection of last season.

They wore grungy over-accessorized looks with lots of black leather. Corset-like tops, baseball jackets and large hoodies were all in the asymmetrical, layered streetwear mix.

After all the darkness, a touch of primal / fuchsia was added to the collection as the music got a little more pleasant to listen to. Then fuchsia changed into deep shades of sand and beige only to end in a series of full bone white looks. Every outfit was richly styled; golden headpieces, scarves wrapped around the models heads, messy, braided hairstyles and eye-catching bangles were all in the mix.

After some ethnic drums and the sound of birds it became completely silent and light on the catwalk as all looks a appeared on the runway once again. Leave out the heavy accessories and the sky-high shoes and you’ve got yourself a selection of very wearable streetwise clothes. A few of the TPS team-members have even already prepared their Individuals wishlist!

Melissa Siegrist & Rebecca Ward Amsterdam Fashion Week SS2013

Melissa Siegrist and Rebecca Ward both showed a very small selection of looks today.

Melissa started with six sportswear inspired menswear outfits. She showed sporty shorts with visible pockets, tank tops in different variations (linen, striped and shiny) and two chic jackets. A small but well tailored selection. We would love to see more!

Rebecca Ward’s collection was all about curves. She presented a series of corset-inspired looks and added circular shapes to her bodies, skirts and pants. A structured grey skirt and a nude shaded body looked stunning, as did a kaleidoscopic nude dress. It might be a while before those futuristic pants get picked up, but they sure fit well in this small and cohesive collection.

Roya Hesam Amsterdam Catwalk Fashion Show SS2013

Nude, airy & sheer; three words that best describe Roya Hesam‘s spring/summer collection. The opening look, a girl dressed in a nude-colored sheer bodysuit with thin ‘spikes’ on the shoulders already set the tone for the rest of the collection. After that the models became better (less revealingly) dressed, although every creations still had it’s cutouts and openings.

Roya sent a wide range of revealing black and nude shaded jumpsuits, evening dresses, maxi skirts and blouses down the runway. She added just a touch of color (a red shaded bra and a full red look) and some metallic accents (sequins/studs). Her models looked elegant in the airy designs and appeared ready for a late night dinner on a hot summer night (yet with all looks being extremely airy they might want to bring an extra vest).

Claes Iversen Amsterdam Catwalk Fashion Show SS2013

Tonight Claes Iversen presented us with a mix of different styles and collections. He opened the show with several minimalistic, sober grey looks, followed by rich, colorful floral designs and ended with more dramatic styles in shades of grey and coral.

Throughout the collection he showed some of his previously designed details and re-introduced some ‘old’ success numbers like the price tags (which were lasered this time) and butterflies he once presented. Claes even recreated half of his iconic rose dress from 2007 and used it has one of his final items. Plus a suit jacket was brought back to live in several different fashion pieces.

Different periodes melted together; sixties flairpants and floral prints clash with all American football influences, which include strong shoulders and sportswear inspired details.

See all the highlights come together in this mind blowing spring/summer fashion show.

Paul Smith Menswear Catwalk Fashion Show Paris SS2013

Paul Smith seemed very optimistic regarding his crisp and colorful collection. Smith’s signature slim silhouettes reminded us of the Mods — the double-breasted suit jackets had strong shoulders and were paired with ankle-length pants in mismatched shades of  peach, mustard and teal. A more laid-back vibe came in cotton or leather biker and blouson jackets. The whole collection offered a modern spin on Smith’s very British tailoring.
