SS2017 Trend: Good Sport

In line with our previously discussed trend (hoodies) we’d like to focus on a major catwalk trend that is very much related: sportswear inspired ensembles. Now, of course we’ve seen sportswear influences come and go for years. Yet, the sportive touch hasn’t been this present for years. It might have started with sneakers becoming extremely mainstream (and becoming more rule than  exception), but now sportswear inspired items, athleisure if you will, and details like hoodies, jogging pants, branded straps and bands, parkas, large zippers, mesh fabrics, caps (a big streetwear thing at the moment) and cycling pants are taking over. And it’s not just all American sportswear brands like Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger who are focusing on activewear, DKNY, Prada and Versace are being good sports too this season. Not to mention old school brands like Fila, Champion and Kappa all making a major comeback (thank you Vetements). Now you don’t even have to stress about working up a sweat in these looks. You can easily rock a mesh cropped top during a late lunch with your friends and simply forget all about your soul cycling class. Besides, you wouldn’t want any sweat stains on your Carven top, now would you?

Trend Report SS2011: Be a sport!

The world of sports again was a big inspiration for many summer collections. Sporty fabrics (nettings & neopreen), sporty details (lots of zippers and layers pockets or buttons) and sports-influenced accessories (caps, glasses and bags) popped up in many runway shows.

At Marni it was the mix of colors and materials that made the Marni girls look sportive. At Balenciaga the shape and materials gave the inspiration away. For Lacoste classic shades like white, black and red added a sporty touch to the collection and at Celine the fit of the clothes seemed perfect for the sporty types.

So weather you’re sticking with the classic sportswear or opting for some brand new more modern sporty style; you can never go wrong this season. So be a sport and try this new trend on for size!

Milan Catwalk Fashion Show fw2010 : Emporio Armani

The Emporio Armani show for fall/winter 2010 opened with a few groups of models wearing different sets of sportswear. The clothes were often made out of sporty rubber and most models wore crazy bonnets to finish their looks.

After the sport-influenced clothes many suits came by. Those – pretty tight – suits mostly came in grey. Grey happened to be the main color of the collection, representing the landscape of the big city (asphalt grey, rainy day grey). Yet it was often mixed with neon-colors to add a techno edge to the outfits. The many zippers on those outfits added to that feeling.

Since the show was all about geometry, many suits had small checks or circles in black and white. Armani also presented some graphic knitwear.

The accessories for the show were hats (which the models carried on their backs), sunglasses and gloves. The models walked the catwalk on big shoes that matched the shades of grey of their outfits.

At the end Armani showed the results of his collaboration with Reebok. About thirty models came on to the runway at the same time, wearing nothing but some men’ s briefs and the new EA7/Reebok shoes. We have to admit, we had a hard time focusing on those shoes!
