‘Eden’ is the name of SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers’ brand new collection presented at the Gashouder on Friday night. A collection full of passion, leering and seductive giving the audience a taste of life without limits. Clothes designed for the love ones, invisible to those who don’t know love and inspired by stories about Paradise. For decisive women who like to be challenged to investigate, experience and be loved endlessly.

As with every collection Truus and Riet once again picked a muse. They found their free loving rebel in party-girl, style icon and artist Eve Babitz.

How this all translated into wearable womenswear looks, you wonder? Well, love was written all over the daring, sometimes revealing fabrics. Models paraded around in airy dresses, blouses and skirts made of silks and viscose crepes. Elegant designs mixed with sportive touches. Just as jackets, bombers and shorts added some contrast to the Love-themed collection. Floral prints and stripes met each other halfway. Beige suede pants and a leave printed green shirt formed a rather casual outing. As an off shoulder airy printed dress added some seductive sassiness. Richly decorated T-shirts and sweaters were given an admirable designer touch and the graphic SIS details were unmistakable.

If we ever have to deal with a Paradise dresscode, we know who to turn to. We don’t just like this, we LOVE it!

SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers Catwalk Fashion Show MBFWA FW2015

MetamorphoSIS was the name of today’s SIS collection. It referred to the title of a Kafka novel in which the main character wakes up one morning as a giant bug. Other stories about bugs too inspired Truus and Riet to takes us on a journey to a world of electronic frames and robot like insects. A far cry from their previous inspirations, women like Josephine Baker, yet definitely an exciting starting point. The show kicked off with several black and white looks in which checks played a main part. Pleated pants, suit jackets, a feminine high slit shirt dress, playful skirts, sporty sweaters and elegant coats. All worn oh so effortlessly by the models, who had the most fascinating hairstyles. Bugs were to be seen in every single look. As shiny XL pendants on the models necklaces, as large prints on their sweaters and bags as well as graphically printed on dresses and skirts. Besides the silhouette, those bugs were the returning factor in the collection. Even when dresses turned yellow, coats came by in green and blouses popped up in blue. Colorwise the designs became more outspoken towards the end. Bright primary colors formed larger than life, computerized bugs on a few typical SIS dresses. A few new Spijkers en Spijkers spectacles to match and we’re ready for the new season!

SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers Fashion Week Amsterdam FW2014

No fashion week without the SIS-sisters. Truus and Riet Spijkers closed the Amsterdam Fashion Week spectacle with a playful, wearable fall/winter collection ‘Around the world in a day’ for their SIS-line. Inspired by traveling they changed up their typical SIS-silhouette a little bit for next year. Looks became a little more structured and sportive. T-shirt tops with rose appliques looked refreshing. As did a series of baseball jackets, which came by in sheer and a few rose appliques versions. They were matched with pencil skirts and grey woolen socks with black heels. The typical SIS dresses were still there too; with colored, printed parts and cute little collars. Oh and don’t think the Arnhem based sisters forgot about the suits. With accentuated waists and strapless dresses the silhouette was feminine. And with shades of burgundy, black, pink, white, blue, green, orange, red next winter is going to be bright.

Catwalk Fashion Show SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers SS2012

Tonight the Amsterdam Fashion Week kicked off with the SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers (their second line) fashion show. A great start of a week full of fashion!

Designers Truus and Riet Spijkers presented a fun, sunny collection which turned a big smile on our faces. They were inspired by the twenties and Olympic swimmer Zus Braun in particular. The swim details were visible through fun play/bathing suits and old skool bathing caps.

SIS was divided in day wear and evening wear and overall felt very playful and optimistic. Shades of rose, red, pistachio, amber and nautical blue were used in combination with white and black. The models looked feminine in jumpsuits, shorts, jeans skirts (with large pockets) and casual suit jackets.

Stripes were used in every possible way, a zig zag print came by and a ‘vintage’ fashion illustration formed the print on some of the SIS-tops. Multi-colored belts, sunny shades and cane hats added just the right feeling to some of the looks. Overall it was just a very joyful and wearable collection, exactly what a second line should be.
