Roparosa Catwalk Fashion Show SS2011

Today Project Catwalk (RTL5) winner Roos van der Kamp showed her third collection Come out and play. The designing of streetstyle clothes she became so good at during the television show was visible again as she presented a mix of comfortable and sporty clothes.

The independent, confident woman Roos designs for definitely was ready to go ‘out and play’. She wore modern, trendy clothes with loose silhouettes, strong geometrical shapes and soft fabrics.

Her pants were wide and had obvious elastic bands. Her tops had accentuated, well-made shoulders, yet Roos already made a lot of those during Project Catwalk.

Two ‘jackets’ (in red and green) had very pointy shoulders and resembled big envelopes. Several jumpsuits and sportive shorts looked very cool.

The leggings and the bathing suit full of cutouts were not really our taste, but hey, there always needs to be room for improvement.

About Roos van der Kamp
Roos (1984) graduated in 2005 at the HKU. She founded her own company Roparosa in 2007. In 2010 she won television program Project Catwalk. This Fashion Week she presented her third collection Come out and play, being able to show her line was one of the prices of the television show.

Daryl van Wouw Catwalk Fashion Show SS2011

For his new collection Daryl van Wouw just put on the song Paradise Circus of Massive Attack on repeat and the rest is history. The song and especially the videoclip inspired him to make a whole new summer collection by the name of Lovely Weird World.

The colors of the video led to a wonderful color palette of white, orange, cobalt blue and green. The clothes felt urban and very wearable. Shorts and short dresses were the main items of the show. They (almost) all had special pleats, which often created extra volume.

Less than before the fact that Daryl lives now in Shanghai influenced the collection. Yet the show did have a foreign touch. The models had special make-up with vertical dots, their hair was green, red and blue colored. The girls wore (gypsy) accessories (headbands, bracelets and earrings) with coins and walked on colorful, leather – designed by Daryl – sandals.

Daryl might be living in Shanghai, he still knows exactly what Dutch women love to wear: easy going, stunning, street-chic items for any possible occasion.

Hyun Yeu (womenswear) Catwalk Fashion Show SS2011

On Friday Hyun Yeu presented his womenswear collection just one day after his menswear show. There were ten looks ranging from a long peach-colored gala gown to a black lace party dress.

The blouses looked very good, especially a transparent black one. They had special shoulders and sleeves. A strong jacket with cut sleeves looked very good.

Like in Hyun Yeu’s menswear collections the womenswear pants looked great. The lace and sequined dresses would be great for a night out, yet they were not very outspoken and could have had more of a Hyun Yeu touch.

Such a pity there were only ten looks, we would have loved to see more…

Quoc Thang Catwalk Fashion Show SS2011

Quoc Thang’s new collection ‘Het moment voorbij’ was all about freedom. The designer translated that feeling through the style of a woodcutter. The collection was very outdoor; rough materials like wooll and cotton mixed with polyester and nylon.

The male models walked in overalls, raincoats and checked tuniques (these checks were especially designed for this collection and were made out of shields with two crossing bows). They carried backpacks and wore shoes by Timberland, the sponsor of the show. They looked cool, but their heads were all wet & sweaty.

The jacket had a central position in this collection; blazers, parka’s and tops that felt like coats were the eye-catchers of the show.

Quoc Thang (1979) graduated in 2005 at the Rietveld academy in Amsterdam. He then organized several projects in Berlijn en Parijs. In 2009 he launched his collection under his own name.

Marloes Blaas Catwalk Fashion Show SS2010

Like Franciscus van der Meer, Marloes Blaas also used the second World War as an inspiration. She drew much inspiration from peasant life and the atmosphere surrounding the liberation of that war.

We saw an army green uniform and a thick black leather top which looked very powerful. There were tough shorts with extra pockets and well tailored jackets. On the other hand Marloes opted for airy fabrics and feminine faded prints. So there were some contradictions in this collection.

We have to say the army outfits looked slightly stronger than the elegant, airy items. The prints looked great, yet the army clothes looked more outspoken and different from what we’ve seen before.
