Versace Fashion Show Womenswear Milan SS2017

Who would have ever thought Teva sandals would appear on a Versace runway? A sign that, for SS2017 Donatella Versace was ready to change things up a bit. Adding ‘sportive’ to her usual ‘strong’ and ‘sexy’ collection. She introduced color blocked parkas and leather jackets to add to her selection of bodycon leggings, mini skirts and tight dresses. Next summer the Versace woman is going places other than cocktail parties and night clubs. But even in a midnight blue raincoat she’ll make heads turn, just like closing model Gigi did tonight.

Roberto Cavalli Catwalk Fashion Show Womenswear Milan SS2017

Fashion might have made a big turn from normcore to maximalism over the last few seasons, the Roberto Cavalli woman has stayed true to her sexy seventies style all along. For spring/summer too she’s going to dress like a free spirited vixen, be it with a little more accessory and detailing.
Not only will she be wearing colored velvet flared pants. They’re going to be embroidered from top to bottom too. Patchwork (a mix of floral and animal prints as seen on pants, tops and dresses) is going to be a big theme in her warderobe ass well. Airy maxi dresses and studded leather jackets fit in perfectly as extra fringes, lace up details, studs and ruffles will add to the seventies swing. Beaded jewelry, bee-like glasses, cowboy belts and skinny scarves in the mix. The Cavalli girl has always loved to live life to the max, she’s just turning things up a notch for next summer.

 

Giorgio Armani Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear FW2016

The afternoon after Leonardo DiCaprio received his first Oscar wearing Armani we all gather at via Bergognone for the Giorgio Armani show. One of the final shows of Milan Fashion Week, but given it’s length a spectacle to stay around for. The 81-year old designer sent out no less than 82 catwalk looks. Seemingly monochrome, yet with sligt touches of pastel if you’d take a closer look. Fringes and flowers seemed to be recurring elements. Floral prints kept popping up throughout the show in small and bigger versions, on dresses, bags, shoes and coats. Still the collection felt sober. Floral printed maxi dresses and embroidered velvet suits breathed Armani’s classic elegance as they passed by. Hair (a springy nest of messy curls atop a double French twist ) and make-up (classic makeup with a nod to the Seventies) appeared flawless. And that finale filled with evening numbers could one by one have had earned a spot on the red carpet at last night’s ceremony.

Marni Catwalk Fashion Show Milan Womenswear FW2016

How we love a Sunday Milan Fashion Week morning, starting our fashion filled day with Marni. Today the show got us in an extra good mood. One glance at it’s first look and we already knew; this is going to be a hit collection. Old Hollywood glam wrapped in a series of contemporary looks made us both feel nostalgic as well as super excited for next fashion season. Shape (round proportions), color and material (compact, stiff) in the ultimate mix; this was modern elegance at it’s best. High waisted pants were paired with old school V-neck sweaters. There were suede skirts worn with blouses that had XL sleeves and cuffs. Tweed pants were matched with sporty cropped jackets. All given the ultimate Marni touch by added Xl sequins, pockets, buttons, belts and double collars. Oh and let’s not forget about those earrings. Floral prints and checks worked beautifully with the warm color palette. A dress and a co-ord had touches of navy colored velvet swirly layering on them. As sparkly chunky embroideries gave the finale’s little black dress a splendid Marni make-over. All remarkable, original rich yet simplistic looks that turned out even stronger thanks to the 40s inspired make-up, Consuelo Castiglioni chose to accompany her designs. A classic Hollywood look of pale skin, intense brown colored lips and wavy hair given a mysterious contemporary twist.
