Etro Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2011

At Etro champagne, brownies, and colorful pillows on our seats set the right mood for the show. Yet the clothes itself already told a great story.

That story started with a high waisted pair of floral trousers and a black & white zig zag printed top. Then Etro’s famous paisley print came by on a t-shirt dress, followed by airy top with open shoulders.

There were asymmetrical halter dresses, slim tunics, silk pants, color blocking shorts and printed pant suits. Some tops and dresses had the shape of handkerchief and seemed to be made out of just one square piece of beautiful printed fabric.

Several outfits were a combination of two prints, yet created the illusion of one piece. Their earthy tones and popping brights (flag green, turquoise, coral) shades matched perfectly. They added to the whole seventies vibe of the show.

Apart from the prints much attention was paid to decorating the looks as well. We loved the jackets embroidered with tribal patterns, the tunic dresses with black and white beading, the bags with scarf pattern, the wood platform sandals and the jewellery.

The models looked comfortable and chic. And since the seventies are officially one of the biggest trends for next spring, we’ve got a feeling this Etro collection will become a big hit.

D&G Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2011

The D&G invite appeared to be a big hint on the theme for the actual fashion show. It had a colorful floral print and a little envelope with actual (floral) seeds in it. So when we arrived at D&G the whole show area was filled with the most beautiful flowers. It was as if we had ended up in a fairytale, but in fact it was D&G’s spectacular Garden Party.

Hurts’ Wonderful life came out of the speakers as the models came on to the runway. The fact that they wore floral prints too came as no surprise, in fact the floral prints were the main aspect of the collection.

There were floral prints in every variation you could think of. They came by on tops, floor-sweeping dresses, jumpsuits, overalls and shorts, alternated by red and white picnic cloth checks and some images of Disney’s Snow White.

Several lace outfits popped up too, as well as some patent red leather. Shoes with flowers around the ankles and headscarves, gardening gloves and tools completed the fresh-looking summer collection.

And just when we though it was over Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce sent all their models out on the runway wearing ultra-feminine, long, airy, floral printed, seventies dresses, each with a different print and color. A perfect bohemian-chic ending of a great garden party full of romantic, yet playful designs.

Dutch model Daphne Groeneveld is one of the New Faces of this season. The 16-year old girl with the pouting lips is now popping up everywhere. On the first day of Milan Fashion Week she walked in the Gucci show. Right after she walked out of that show all cameras were pointed at her as you can see in the short clip below. We’re for sure we’re going to hear a lot more from this pretty girl.

Gucci Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2011

The Gucci show of today was the first big fashion show of in Milan, yet didn’t fail to set the mood right for the rest of the Milan Fashion Week.

It was a show the rich Gucci girl will most certainly love. It was luxurious, elegant and feminine from the beginning till the end.

The luxurious feeling came from handmade and crafted extra’s. Embroideries and embellishments like beads, feathers, crystals, silk tassels, chains, rings and studs will surely make the Gucci women long for most of the pieces.

Frida Giannini this time designed her clothes for ‘modern amazons’, intellectual exotic women seen through an urban lens. Therefor there were Berber and Aztec influences. And the many (handcrafted) details and bright colors (emerald, fuchsia, orange, violet, turquoise and later camel and black) must have come from that tribal inspiration as well.

Although the suede and leather items appeared a bit too hot for summer, we suppose the Gucci girls can’t wait to get their hands on some of the fabulous harem pants and riding jackets.

Sandwich Catwalk Fashion Show SS2011

Yesterday Sandwich presented it’s summer collection for next year. The fashion brand, which was founded 28 years ago, gave an energetic show with lots of good-looking outfits.

The collection was divided in different themes like Ocean Breeze, Raw Chic and Contradictions. This was visible through pants with different silhouettes; from leggings to treggings to trousers with a low crotch.

Sandwich showed some strong blouses, soft cardigans and diverse jackets like motorjackets, parkas and trench-coats. Every outfit was completed with the right accessories like a nice necklace, belt or soft scarf.

The color-palette was soft, ranging from white to beige to light gray and brown, with a splash of yellow and pink every now and then.

It was a vibrant show and all clothes looked super comfortable. So whether the Sandwich lady wants to go for lunch with a friend, bring her kids to school or crash a party, for every occasion there was an appropriate look in this collection.
