Calvin Klein Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2012

Calvin Klein was quite what we expected. Clean wearable looks in plain colors, this time with a very sporty vibe. Sporty pants were mixed with tank tops, polo’s and T-shirts. All perfectly color-coordinated in shades of white, grey, yellow and black (incl. the socks and the shoes).

Fabrics were sheer and shiny, with sporty details like lines and zippers. Everything looked perfectly constructed and none of the looks seemed to be trying to hard. Like a white suit jacket mixed with shorts (worn just over the knee) and a simple pair of jeans with a casual black T-shirt. A shiny short black jacket with a straight pair of black pants and a long jacket combined with a waist belt.

We will have to get used to the (look-a-like) safety glasses and the sequined tops, but the rest of the collection will definitely be an instant hit.

Emporio Armani Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2012

If anything the Emporio Armani show today was relaxed. The silhouette was loose, the fabrics were airy and the nonchalant male models walked in a chill mode (sunglasses on, hands in their pockets).

The fabrics moved with every step the models took. Those loose pants seemed ultra comfortable, several knitted sweaters looked weightless and some of the jackets appeared almost translucent.

With a colored palette ranging from off white and light grey to navy and black Armani’s silk and linen designs were the perfect example of casual elegance.

Dark denim and leather jackets with lots of zippers added some streetwise feeling. And the barefoot finale once more stressed the relaxed spirit of this collection. No sharp & sleek business looks here, but maybe Armani wants men to loosen up a bit. It sure looks very tempting.

John Varvatos Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2011

After just the first look the mood was set at John Varvatos. Dressed in a loose blouse and a slightly flared pair of trousers, accessorized by an eye-catching necklace the look of the long haired model breathed seventies, hippie-chic, romance and freedom.

From that first look on the loose silhouette continued (as well as the long hair). First in multiple grey tones. Changing from a loose fitting suit jacket to a military jacket and later a long cardigan (never without the necklace).

Waistcoats, suede jackets, a checked pair of pants and scarfs with the print of the American flag followed in shades of sand, camel, off white and black. All styled with a seventies vibe (lots of layering), but just as wearable combined with some less outspoken items for anyone who’s not feeling the early Rolling Stones style.

Vivienne Westwood Catwalk Fashion Show Paris FW2011

Last week Vivienne Westwood said queen-to-be Kate Middleton had no style and she would never design her wedding dress. Due to that she might have lost some fans, but after the spectacular show of today they’ll come running back soon.

The Westwood show, attended by the likes of Kanye West and Boy George, was one big parade of over-the-top looks. On a golden runway models with dark make-up, crazy headpieces, funky hairdo’s, big big earing, knee socks and costume-like clothing appeared.

They wore loose pants, ultra shorts pants, printed jumpsuits, pencil-like skirts and chalk suit jackets. Shiny accessories (in golden baroque prints) gave the looks a funky twist and some outfits, covered in golden beads and sequins, were too glittery to handle.

The finale was a true fantasy, with one special dress after the other. A ‘classic’ wedding gown was Vivienne’s last masterpiece, with a tight body and loootts of tulle. Indeed, not the kind of dress we picture Kate Middleton in, coming April.

Etro Catwalk Fashion Show Milan FW2011/2012

At Etro we were once again pampered with delicious bites, the best drinks and free Etro pillows. The baroque prints of the pillows perfectly matched the winter season, as did the prints in the collection. Veroniqua Etro’s inspiration for her ethnic prints this time came from antique carpets, tapestries and embroideries.

The prints were slightly faded, as if they were aged by time and could be found on wrap dresses, pencil skirts, oversized scarves and dresses with tuxedo jacket silhouettes.

Raw jewelry, like sharp edged earrings, sword necklaces and silver buckles were the perfect finishing touches of this collection. A collection full of pieces which women of any age would love to work into their wardrobe.

Moschino Catwalk Fashion Show Milan FW2011/2012

Sexy militaries opened the Moschino show this morning. The Italian brand showed us a glamorous take on the uniform, which included lots of bling bling, eye catching accessories and very feminine tailored uniform jackets.

The models wore high military hats, sexy pointy glasses and model Coco Rocha appeared with a chicken on her head. We’re curious what was behind that look…

There were of course a lot of suits with pants that showed just a little bit of ankle. But we saw some super sexy dresses too. Not to mention the golden skirts and palazzo pants, which are now officially a trend, since we’ve seen them at many FWshows. We’re not sure they will look good on many women though.

Like the models walking the show, the colors of the collection were strong (navy, red, silver, black and gold). Towards the end of the show a heartprint was introduced, which matched the Moschino letters at the backdrop of the show.

It was a fun collection. A bit over the top -like always- but that’s what we know Moschino for, right?

Prada Catwalk Fashion Show Milan FW2011/201

Mixing a swim cap with gigantic glasses and a double breasted black dress can be very sexy. At least, according to Miuccia Prada, who sent this outfit out on the runway as her first look.

The Italian designer again pushed the boundaries with her new winter collection. She wanted to make glamorous and sexy materials more innocent and fresh’, she told WWD. This resulted in a fun collection with an cartoon effect. No bananas and monkeys this time, but 60’s inspired dresses with eye-catching buttons. Some designs (with different fields in several shades) even felt very Mondrian-ish.

Miuccia’s models all wore gloves and held a snakeskin Prada bag in their right arm. Towards the end their dresses changed from nude and furry to bright and shiny. So if your Prada dress, gloves or bags don’t get enough attention; just try out the swim hats; you’ll look just perfect. 😉

D&G Catwalk Fashion Show Milan FW2011/2012

The D&G invitation gave the whole theme of the show away. It was covered in colorful letters and so was the collection.

On the first few dresses the letters looked like graphic prints from a distance. Yet once the models got closer it was clear that it were rows of R’s, L’s, O’s en Z’s.

Hues of black, white and grey were spiced up by some colorful accessories (necklaces and bracelets with large letter hangers and bright bags). Then in came the neon colors; orange, yellow and pink. Stripes were mixed with the letters and underneath several cotton designs pieces of sheer fabric were visible. Together with some bright oversized blazers it all led to a young and funky D&G collection.

The finale was special too this time. Models appeared on the runway looking like ostriches. They wore puffy, frilly skirts combined with summery printed Tees. How we love those D&G finales!

Fendi Catwalk Fashion Show Milan FW2011/2012

The new Fendi girl Karl Lagerfeld presented today was sexy and sophisticated. The kinda girl everyone notices once she stepped in the room. A girl with an outspoken way of dressing up; mixing bright colored (orange, yellow, red) tights with chic skirts and tight blouses with eye catching ruffles.

She loves wearing fur; as an accessory and used on complete coats. Not a day goes by without her wearing her headband or her structured handbag and oh my, does she love her enormous sunglasses.

The new Fendi girl has a look not everyone will immediately love, but she has her own style and knows what she wants. Hurray for that!

The Dutch press had an extra reason to visit the John Richmond show today. Dutch celeb Yolanthe Sneijder Cabau (wife of Inter Milan soccer player Wesley Sneijder) walked in the show. She opened and closed the show and worked the runway like a pro, even though she’s not a model!
