Klavers Van Engelen. The End

After thirteen years the Dutch fashionduo Niels Klavers and Astrid van Engelen close their fashionhouse. Due to the economic situation it’s impossible for them to continue as an independent fashionlabel. It’s really sad that such talented and original designers like Klavers van Engelen have to quit the fashionstage. Two designers whose hearts are totally dedicated to fashion and craftsmanschip. The Netherlands is not an easy market to survive as a fashionlabel, and Klavers van Engelen really tried to land in other countries. Without any satisfying results. It seemed only people who are connoisseurs were interested in their designs, people who can enjoy the way Niels Klavers and Astrid van Engelen play with fabric, construction and movement. With every collection it seemed they let the fabric and movement do the job in dresses, tunics and pants that moved like water.
In an official press release Niels Klavers and Astrid van Engelen stated that they feel really sad about their decision and they realize it’s a disappointment for all their fans. They truly appreciate all the support they’ve got over the years.
This week they presented their last spring summer 2012 collection in Amsterdam, which will not be sold in stores. As always Team Peter Stigter shot their lookbook, although not knowing it would be the last time. It’s with sadness we present you these pictures, but we were really proud we could work with Niels and Astrid.
Pink is the new black

It’s Pink Monday in Tilburg where Team Peter Stigter has it’s headquarters. The annual fair – the biggest in Europe – has arrived and on Pink Monday the gay pride gathers in this town located in the south of Holland. The town colors pink in no time, drags show themselves from their best side, barbie got a lot of competition. This time we thought it might be nice for a change to picture all those beautifully and pink dressed (wo)men.
Just to celebrate freedom and the fact you can be you.
This was AIFW SS2012
Fashion is vaporized. All cameras are packed. Make up dissolved. The stage disappeared. This 15th edition of Amsterdam International Fashion Week attracted more than 18.500 people, less than last edition due to the bad weather.
But all in all visitors enjoyed the vibe and nice shows, to name some highlights: the Lichting 2011 award, Frans Molenaar Awar, Lab-shows, Sage & Ivy-show in the Spartelvijver, SIS by Spijkers & Spijkers, the pr-stunt of Zeeman by FRANK, Jan Boelo and the Hunkemöller-show. A special thanks to the Fashion-week wo made it all work out smoothly. See you all next year.

The fifteenth edition of Amsterdam International Fashion Week is a fact. More than 18.500 visitors came to the Westerpark and downtown-program, 1500 less then last year. Due to the bad weather some people decided to stay home and watch the shows via internet. Thanks to the renewed organisation at the AIFW the programme went smootly.
So we thought it’s about time to introduce the crew, or A-team, that is the motor behind the organisation of the Amsterdam fashionweek, which is the number six on the list of international fashion-weeks. But of course this week wouldn’t be possible without the commitment of the other team-members Holly Syrett, Judith Hafkamp, interns and volunteers.
Meet the A-team, from left to right: the best dressed program-director we know Carlo Wijnands, shareholders Hans van der Linden, Bart Maussen and Wouter Zick.

Again the rain kept people busy yesterday at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week. After such a beautiful friday, it was hard to believe we wouldn’t see the sun at all on saturday. But people still found ways to dress up for their visit to the fashionshows.

Even men need to be powdered now and then. The backpackers and travellers that inspired Quoc Thang for his fall collection were symolised by shimmering powder and sandblown hair.

It’s a small crew, but one cannot do without them during a fashionshow. Someone need to create order in the chaos of walking the catwalk, the tempo, the rythm. So meet Bas Andrea and Nathalie Haelermans, a duo with quite some experience in the world of fashion.
They were responsible for the choreography and direction of some of the fashionshows during AIFW, like Lichting 2011 and FRANK.
Which crew are you? House of Orange at AIFW
All kinds of different talents are coming from the House of Orange, hairdressers, make-up-artists, stylists, photographers and show-producers. And you can meet all of them at the AIFW. From day 1 on the make-up artists are transforming the models into real beauties supported by the products of Maybelline. Finally the sun was out in Amsterdam yesterday and that made our work on the streets around the AIFW-venue a lot easier. And we noticed right away that people were happy to show their summer-outfits.
