It was all about color and fabrics at Bottega Veneta, starting with a little hint of purple and fuchsia in a simple scarf and ending in full color. This collection had everything a man wants: soft cashmere sweaters, comfy trousers, a good suit and enough to keep it personal and quiet. The colors made us feel happy – it suits well with all the green notes we spotted in other collections.

Are modelagency’s cutting costs for transport?  Male models working in Milan during this fashionweek take their skateboard to move from one show to another. Peter Stigter  spotted them outside Bottega Veneta. Maybe it’s just the easiest way in a city where public transport it not at its best.

Trussardi 1911 Catwalk Fashion Show ss2010

Milan Vukmirovic is the one who has to revive the Trussardi 1911 menswear-label. And he succeeded indeed, although he took the easiest way by giving  formalwear a cool twist and play with proportions and color. By the way: denim is defenitively back in vogue, the Trussardi-jeans is studded and colored with flames.

CP Company catwalk Fashion Show ss2010

It was the first collection for CP of ex-Galliano menswear designer Wallace Faulds, so expectations were high. Spandau Ballet was on the soundtrack and the place was packed, but in the end the collection was plain and straightforward. Basically it was all about a white tee and indigo jeans, full tops over tapered pants with rolled cuffs. The simplicity and uniformity felt modern, but we missed that extra spark.

Giorgio Armani Catwalk Fashion Show ss2010

Giorgio Armani is at his best when times are rough. He just does where he’s good at: making good suits with that typical Armani twist. Graphic patterns in black and white, a relaxed mix of formal and informal,  neutral colors, twotone shoes and snakeskin sneakers. When the company is going  bankrupt, at least you can leave in style.

Burberry Catwalk Fashion Show ss2010

The Burberryshow was about ‘british town and country under British rain and sun’ according to the press release. That means lightweight trenches in waxed cotton, tissue weight nylon, paper leather and cashmere knits. The colors represented the weatherconditions: muddy, taupe and grey for a rainy day, bottle green, pastel hyacinth and pastel powder blue for those hazy summerdays. Bag of the season – as seen in other collections – is a canvas utility bag trimmed with leather. The collection was ok, but not as upbeat and cool as it used to be. And we’re desperately in need for surprising and daring clothes!

Jil Sander Catwalk Fashion Show 2010

Thanks to a very kind PR-assistant at the door we made it into Jil Sander last minute. It was – as always – worth trying. Very plain, very sober and very white! White shirts at navy trousers dominated the collection and Raf Simons just added a small silver outline to shirts or cut the frontparts of jackets different which gave the models – together with their bowlcut hair – a neat and nerdy look. The portraits by Japanese artist Foujita gave it a more arty edge.

Dolce & Gabbana Catwalk Fashion Show ss2010

When you cut the prices of your collections by almost 20 percent like Dolce & Gabbana did, you still have to make it worth buying. But their new summercollection is something we already know: smokings mixed with jeans and cotton trousers, destroyed and bleached jeans, black and white suits, a T-shirt with a portrait of a style-icon (Marlon Brando). The only new idea – and odd – were the silk pyjamas that lined some destroyed jeans. Who’s ging to wear that? We liked the thin, black silk shirts.

Costume National Catwalk Fashion Show ss2010

The Costume National Homme collection was about travellers and curious adventurers. According to us it was more about new wave, eighties and small suits for older boys. Lots of white, black and grey with a hint of green, a small silhouet and ankleboots.

Zegna Catwalk Fashion Show ss2010

Ermenegildo Zegna represented the feeling that was all over the Pitti Uomo: a need for new, different  business-suits. Less formal and strict, more casual and colorful. The label managed to fill that need for a large part.
