Festimode Casablanca Fashion Week 2012, Day 1

The seventh edition of Festimode Casablanca Fashion Week (FCFW) 2012 started yesterday with two shows of Fadila el Gadi and Mehdi Khessouane.

Fadila el Gadi has been working as a fashion-designer since 1990, and she is probably one of the few people in the fashion-business who has been working with the legendary Yves St. Laurent. That experience opened some doors for her, but it is of course Gadi’s talent that made her design for Barbara Streisand and Beyoncé. You can find her work in boutiques in Paris, Madrid and Saint-Tropez, in Morocco she has her own boutiques in Tanger and Marrakech.

Mehdi Khessouane was always surrounded by art and design, since his father is a interior-architect and his mother has a passion for art. Besides that Khessouane also had a passion for science. No wonder he studied Biology at the university and Fashion at the l’Ecole superieure des Beaux Arts in Casablanca. He is not only fascinated by designer Amina Agueznay but he also stands up against global warming. In 2009 Khessouane joined the selection of young talented designers at FCFW. This year he returned with an avant-garde collection for men and women.

Meanwhile, in Casablanca

Team Peter Stigter has arrived in Casablanca, Morocco. For the first time the Team is shooting the Fashionweek over there. And of course we will keep you posted on that. But first Peter and Jon want to share some pics they made during their first meeting with this modern city in the North of Africa, which is the biggest city of Morocco with the most important harbor. They visited the old town, the Hassan II mosque and some interesting shops and people. Please enjoy.

This was Amsterdam Fashion Week, 17th edition

We think this edition of Amsterdam Fashion Week was a well-organized ad sizzling edition. With interesting designers, wonderful shows and a creative vibe. Almost 20.000 visitors came to the Westergasfabriek to meet and watch each other and see the shows of Bas Kosters, Lichting 2012, Tony Cohen and Sjaak Hullekes, a.o. Although you have to be there to experience the atmosphere, we’ve tried to capture it in images.

Amsterdam Fashion Week SS2013, this was Day 4

The fourth day of Amsterdam fashion Week SS2013 was a quite relaxed day, with two interesting sessions of Vodafone Firestarters, a Salon-show of Winde Rienstra & Marije de Haan, the modern dandies of Sjaak Hullekes and the Gestuz-show.

This was Amsterdam Fashion Week FW2012

Fashion is vaporized. All cameras are packed. Make up dissolved. The stage disappeared. This 16th edition of Amsterdam Fashion Week attracted almost 20.000 people. Visitors enjoyed the vibe and nice shows, to name some highlights: the openingnight with Bas Kosters and Sjaak Hullekes, the Lab-shows, Sage & Ivy-show, SIS by Spijkers & Spijkers, Jan Boelo and the Cast Iron-show. A special thanks to the organization of Amsterdam Fashionweek who made it all work out smoothly.

We’re on our way already to the next fashionweeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

So we’ll meet again.

 

 

Impressions of AFW FW2012 Day 2

This was the second day Amsterdam Fashion Week fall/winter 2012. Highlights of yesterday were the Individuals by AMFI-show,  the LAB-shows and the SIS by Spijkers & Spijkers-presentation.

Wintertrend: Tasteful Texture

This winter it’s all about texture. Mohair, leather, linen, lace, lamé, bouclé, python, illusion, iridescent, wool, chiffon, fur, cotton..  you name it, we’ve seen it. All these different fabrics were mixed, twisted, twirled and patched together which resulted in very fierce en exciting looks.

And no, it doesn’t mean you immediately need to wear some striking pieces. Even a little texture detail can make an outfit pop out.  Like we saw at the Céline show. The turtlenecks looked so simple and modern, but the leather strokes gave it just that little more élan. And there were more designers exploring this trend, like Jean Paul Gaultier with trenches in half leather, half wool scuba fabric. Or American Sweetheart Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. He combined soft chiffon dresses with leather belts or shiny leather jackets with big furry sleeves.  The public loved it.

There was one designer who took this trend through the roof: Balenciaga’s Nicolas Ghesquière. He showed us bomber jackets, gilets and scarves made from thick braided leather. It looked really heavy and strong. They were combined with soft, feminine and colorful painted skirts. But the contrast worked so well.

As you can see, with this trend you can take it as far as you like. Don’t be afraid to experiment a little!

At AIFW day 3: the sun is out, let’s play!

 

We thought it would rain forever, but look: the sun is out. And suddenly life & fashion looks much better.

 

 

Impressions of AIFW SS2012 Day 2

This was Day 2 of Amsterdam International Fashion Week  edition SS2012. Highlights – despite the rain and wind and rain and wind – of yesterday were Pauline van Dongen and Lichting 2011 with winner Sanne Schepers from Artez.

Highlights 14th edition AIFW FW2011

We did it again! We survived Amsterdam International Fashion Week, with more than 27 shows, presentations and party’s. We shot front-stage, backstage, street-wear, shows and soirees and we loved every minute of it.

More than 20.000 people attended the AIFW this time – amongst them a large group of international bloggers – and we hope they enjoyed themselves as much as we did. We did see some strong collections, beautifully dressed people and a lot of fashion-enthusiasm. We won’t forget the couture-show of Jan Taminiau or the colorful parade of Bas Kosters full with energy and fantasy. And we were surprised by the collection of Marloes Blaas and the sweet romantic style of Sage & Ivy. Die-hards like Tony Cohen and Addy van den Krommenacker demonstrated us what a real professional catwalk-show looks like. And talking about show: you don’t have to tell Supertrash anything about that. This was glamor tot the max!

And let’s not forget Spijkers & Spijkers, Monique Collignon, the LAB-shows, Ready to Fish by Ilja Visser,  Huen Yeu, Velour, Elsien Gringhuis. And the Green Fashion Competition. This is how diverse and inventive Dutch fashion-design is.
