And as the models in their floor sweeping designs stepped on the catwalk and their dresses hit the water we all got shivers. What a breathtaking show…

A little extra hairspray? Check. Shoes? Check. Hats? Check. Bowtie? Check. The preparations of the G-star Raw Lichting 2011 show went very smoothly. Sanne Schepens blew the judges away with her twinset collection and won the award. We were there when she heard the good news and we’ve never seen anyone more excited. Sanne was filled with joy and couldn’t stop smiling. And oops! She almost forgot she had to go back on stage…

Versace Catwalk Fashion Show Milan SS2012

It looks like it’s time for a true, classic Versace revival. Not only because of the Versace-inspired show of D&G, also because of the ss2012-collection Donatella Versace sent out yesterday AND the news that she is signed on to be Swedish fashion giant H & M annual guest designer. The collection -launched at nov. 17th in 300 shops around the world – will look back at the Versace-heritage with lots of leather, color, prints and vivacity. For the first time there also will be a small home-collection. Donatella was wearing one of the dresses yesterday when she entered the catwalk after the show.

Maybe that explains the ss2012 collection, full with old fashioned versace-prints, play-boys, and suits that closed low to emphasize the torso. Other elements of those heydays were the baroque-print and lots of buckles.  The swirling curlicues that were a Gianni signature reappeared  in black and white, across jeans and silky blousons, decorating the bath-robes that were once every well-dressed pool’s accessory of choice, and as the tone-on-tone pattern on a sheer mesh shirt. The buckles decorated leather trouser legs, and as closings for jackets.  Colors varied from chrome yellow, grass green, cobalt, hot pink and vermilion.

Here’s the official announcement of the Versace for H&M collection:

Bill Cunningham, the documentary

Just take a few minutes to watch this trailer about streetfashion-photographer Bill Cunningham. He is one of the pioneers and invented the whole streetwear-photography. The way he works and shoots is amazing, and despite his age his eye for fashion and details is unbelievable. This proves you’re never too old for fashion, instead: it keeps you young as long as you keep a certain distance and don’t take it all too seriously!

Anne Marie Commandeur of Stijlinstituut Amsterdam talks about her expectations for the new fall 2011 season, that kicked of yesterday with New York Fashion Week. It’s her talent to catch the trends and influences a few years ahead of the actual season, so what’s old news for her is brand new for us.

According to Commandeur the biggest trends are: Sobriety (a serene but luxurious style with lots of black & white), Retro (influenced by Mad Men and the Fifties), Baroque Wonderland (to escape from todays life, inspired by Alice in Wonderland) and Raw Luxury (inspired by nature and wild animals). You will hear more of it during the coming fashionweeks and read all about it at our Stylespot First View and Round Up. Below you’ll find an example of two of the biggest trends for the new season.

We’ll keep you posted!
