Iris van Herpen Haute Couture show SS2020

On Monday Dutch designer Iris van Herpen presented her latest couture collection ´hypnosis´. Nineteen laser-printed, heat-bonded and laser cut dresses inspired by the kinetic sculptures of American artist Anthony Howe. As Céline Dion, wearing one of the dresses, watched from the front row the designs gracefully moved (with duchesse-satin cut into thousands of 0.8 mm exquisite waves that each are interlinked, designed to move faster than the eye can follow) with every step of the (run)way. Yet explaining the way these dresses were constructed or made with technology can be as dazzling as watching the designs come down the runway. ´The ‘hypnosis’ collection is a hypnotic visualization of nature’s tapestry, the symbiotic cycles of our biosphere that interweave the air, land, and oceans. It also reflects the ongoing dissection of the rhythms of life and resonates with the fragility within these interwoven worlds´, Iris told the press. Best let the designer explain the process and simply be amazed.

This Saturday we were all invited to the Tripolis-complex in Amsterdam as it was time for Gerrit Rietveld Academie’s graduates to present their work to their faculty, family and press. The results of the personal and experimental learnings of seven students (Laetitzia Campbell, Erika Jonasson, Karis Lindelien, Mika Perlmutter, Bodil Ouédraogo, Krystian Sokolowski and Emma Tornsteinrud) were shown as well as a selection of the work of a few first and second years students. Their work, created mostly in a very intuitive way, expresses their view on todays fashion and what fashion will be in the future. Below are a view images of Saturdays show. The rest of the images will follow shortly.

Giambattista Valli x H&M: What to Expect

So Giambattista Valli is the new guest designer for H&M. The news was announced this Sunday evening and we all got a little preview right away. Kendall Jenner, Chiara Ferragni, Chris Lee, Ross Lynch en H.E.R. all got dressed in some of the items from the pre drop of this limited edition collection and we were all in awe. The designs will be super signature Valli and super sweet. We dug up some images from our archive that in our opinion perfectly set the mood for this upcoming designer collab. It’s going to be so tasteful with ingredients such as: tulle (layers and layers of it), volume (3D shapes) powdery pink hues, floral prints, transparency, lace, off shoulder, asymmetry (short in the front, long in the back) and towering lengths. We might get something short and sassy as well. Some feathers perhaps and a tailored (jump)suit. We’re all too excited for the collection’s launch on 7 November.

Who needs lace, mesh or tule when you can dress up in plastic! A big theme out on the streets were see through plastic items. Like those raincoats and Fendi trenches. Like all kinds of see through bags (yes, we know exactly what you’re carrying in your handbag). Like those (semi transparent and sheer) skirts that make you wanna wear fancy (& fashionable) bottoms all of a sudden. And let’s not forget that good old see through umbrella that makes a good streetwear picture, even on a rainy day. Are you all for transparency? Wrap up in plastic, it’s.. so summer 2019 😉

Try not to get dizzy there. Cause you know basically all we want to see you do in these designs in twirl. Twirling around in an outfit with fringes makes up for some impressive outfit movement as well as slomo footage. Especially with these fringe looks. That red fringed cape we spotted on the streets of Paris? Such a stunner! Not to mention those arty coral colored fringe bags we captured. And for those who love a luxurious fringe, take a closer look at Tom Ford, Gucci, Oscar de la Renta and Anna Suit. They’ll instantly turn your walk into runway strutting, moving along at your pase.

Light up every room you enter in this catwalk and streetwear trend. The brightest yellow is hot again, on and off the runway. Given an extra boost by this years Off-White SS2019 collection neon is the perfect color to give your look that extra wow factor. Add some extra coolness with a touch of snake skin. And if you’re a real fan, match your glasses, bag and hair in the same shade while you’re at it. Construction workers be warned, we’re taking over!

They worked incredibly well in the streets of London: chic checks! And especially in a skirt + blazer kinda context. A pleated or ruffled skirt and an oversized blazer, that is. Oh and let’s not forget the kitten heel booties and cowboy boots. Below a little London streetwear gallery on how to look cool, chic and collected.
