Toos Franken + Maaike van den Abbeele Catwalk Fashion Show Amsterdam Fashion Week
Belgian designer Toos Franken is on a roll. After opening her own store in Balen last year, she is now set to conquer the Dutch market with the namesake label she founded in 2014. A career goal that starts with a fashion show during Amsterdam Fashion Week. And so Toos Franken experienced her fashion week debut with a small LAB show on Saturday afternoon. Here she showed a line-up of classic, timeless, minimalistic, quite androgynous looks in a black, beige and blue colored collection named Micro Manifesto. Tailored jackets, oversized sweaters with a good fit. Perfectly wearable items that become special once you take a closer look to really see the detailing and the way an item is finished. The type of clothes Dutch women might fall for as Toos is planning on adding many more selling point to the one she already has in Den Bosch.
Inspired by art, architecture, Japan and her two nationalities Maaike van den Abbeele came up with her diversified collection MA_JAPAN of menswear and womenswear looks this afternoon. Looks you might want to describe as both wearable and extravagant. High pony tail sporting models wore colourful kimono’s, bomber jackets, tight fitting jackets with pointy shoulders and origami detaling, skater skirts and platform shoes. They carried eyecatching bags as well as some intriguing face masks. Outfits that had JAPAN spelled all over them, but might just work for the fashion forward Dutch customer too.
