It’s a hot summer day. The temperature’s rising, yet humidity’s taking over your hair. And so to avoid a frizzy coupe, here are some hairstyles to try out this season making sure your hair stays in place. Throw it up in a high bun (Fendi), try out some tight braids (Hermes), opt for the wet look (Christopher Kane, Proenza Schouler), use some hair clips (yes for this trend!) or just wear a bunch of head bands (Dior); work your magic, have a little fun with it and enjoy the most effortless hairstyles throughout this summer. No hair sticking onto your sweaty neck this season, although hair stuck to your forehead (Chalayan) is a bit of a trend.
So Giambattista Valli is the new guest designer for H&M. The news was announced this Sunday evening and we all got a little preview right away. Kendall Jenner, Chiara Ferragni, Chris Lee, Ross Lynch en H.E.R. all got dressed in some of the items from the pre drop of this limited edition collection and we were all in awe. The designs will be super signature Valli and super sweet. We dug up some images from our archive that in our opinion perfectly set the mood for this upcoming designer collab. It’s going to be so tasteful with ingredients such as: tulle (layers and layers of it), volume (3D shapes) powdery pink hues, floral prints, transparency, lace, off shoulder, asymmetry (short in the front, long in the back) and towering lengths. We might get something short and sassy as well. Some feathers perhaps and a tailored (jump)suit. We’re all too excited for the collection’s launch on 7 November.
If you’d have to put your money on any color palette or combination, this might be a safe bet. It’s fresh, it’s unexpected and it works so damn well. Tangerine & turquoise; they go together like peanut butter and jelly. Don’t you think? Spotted at Walter von Beirendonck, Acne, Paul Smith and Valentino. You’re gonna want to add a touch of color to your 50 shades of grey f/w wardrobe. No need to opt for bright orange body warmers (as seen at ACW, Richmond and Marni) straight away. A beanie, scarf or backpack in either one of these shades will work it’s wonders just as well.
Sure you look smashing with your new sunnies. But hey, wearing a vintage pair of statement glasses is just as cool these days. Just see how our favorite streetstyle stars (Erika Boldrin and Rebecca Laurey among others) are rocking theirs. Get yours from any of the latest designer collections or, even better, find a unique thrift version that’ll have everyone wishing it was their treasure find. So grab you’re (reading) glasses even if you can see quite well without ’em.
So we’ve discussed the bags on bags and pockets on pockets trend. But those are not the only accessories you’re gonna want to stack up on. Wearing multiple necklaces is a big theme this summer. We spotted it at Chanel, Dolce and Armani. But also Marni, McQueen and Moschino went for the double, triple, multple necklace look. Remember: these no such thing as too much. Miss Apfel said it like it is: More is more, less is a bore. Well there you go!

Sugar sweet and fit for a queen. That’s one way to sum up these haute couture dresses. Turns out bright pink was the color of choice at many of the fashion houses. Givenchy, Valentino and Giambattista Valli all went for the brightest of pinks. While Chanel, Dior and Balmain opted for powdery pink. Anyway, the message was sweet, girly and loud. With statement skirts and shoulders, dramatic bows, tons of tule, lots of layers and the most gorgeous and detailed embroideries. Now we just need enough special occasions to wear these kinds of dresses to.
Guys, hitting the gym all winter long has paid off and now is time to show off. Unbuttoned shirts or no shirt at all. Pair your favorite swim shorts with a bright colored bucket hat. Match your shorts with your tropical shirt. Or opt for something eclectic (as seen at Walter von Beirendonck and Prada). No matter what dresscode you’re gonna go with, it’s (summer summer) summertime and we want you to show it.
We love a good street smart collection. Sporty vibes, statement colors and just the right mix of materials. That’s why we’re such fans of the collections below. All created by upcoming Dutch designers (from AMFI, Artez and more). Navy, black, white, orange and a splash of neon. Hoodies, sneakers, caps and the right interplay of sexy fit and oversized. All you need is the right attitude and you’ll be keepin it cool throughout the whole summer.
So silk skirts appears to be a big SS2019 trend. And what better way to zoom in on this fabric than by looking at the work of some Dutch designers (Maison365, La Port and others). As we scrolled to the latest collections of our favorite Dutch brands we spotted silk tops, silk pants, silk dresses and even stand out silk capes for kids. A tricky fabric to rock, but if you dare to go all out (perhaps like the pregnant lady at Ninamounah) you will surely make an entrance anywhere you go. And might these designs be a little too edgy for you, you can always opt for a bright colored pencil skirt (like the ones we’re seeing in all the high street stores). Keep it smooth, sexy and silk!
Nothing more cheerful than a bright colored floral printed ensemble. Right? That’s what the creative directors at Altuzarra, Dries van Noten, Louis Vuitton and Versace thought too when designing their SS2019 collections. High street retailers have already picked up on the trend, so there’s no denying. The ultimate spring print that will surely lead you into a bright summer.
