2010 has almost come to and end. But we won’t celebrate the new year until we’ve looked back on a fantastic year of fashion. We’ve collected the news on the most memorable collaborations, upcoming models and other fashion facts you must not forget.
We made a top of 40 items and have already published the first 15. Here are fashion facts 16-20:
16. Doutzen Kroes is having a son
Besides Miranda Kerr, Victoria’s Secret angel and ‘Dutchie’ Doutzen Kroes also has a baby on the way. She and Sunnery James (who she secretly married on a Sunday afternoon in November) are having a son in 2011.
17. LVMH & Hermes
Bernard Arnault bought 20 percent of the stocks of fashion house Hermes. Yet since the investment came as a surprise to Hermes, it seems the brand is not to happy about it.
18. Trend: Minimalism
Celine, Chloe, Stella McCartney, Jil Sander and Calvin Klein all supported one of the big trends of 2010: minimalism. Their designs were simple, but luxurious at the same time. No prints, no fuss. Just clean cuts and basic hues. Less is more.
19. New Topmodel: Daphne Groeneveld
In 2010 a new topmodel was discovered: 16-year old Daphne Groeneveld all of a sudden became incredibly successful. She started the year as one of the faces of MiuMiu’s ad campaign and ended on the cover of French Vogue. We expect this blond-haired girl with the bee-stung lips to make it to supermodel status within a year. Go Daphne!
20. Matthew Williamson’s new lines
Matthew Williamson decided to expand his business. First he announced the launch of a second, more affordable, clothing line, named Muse by Matthew Williamson. After that the designer was all over the news, because he’ll be designing a bridal collection. We’re excited!
