It´s business as usual in Milan as the fashion train has moved on to Paris for the SS2018 menswear collections. But fashion professionals might have headed to the city of light, there´s still lots of Milan menswear to discuss. So let´s recap on one of the hottest fashion weeks we´ve experienced in a while.

Quite a few trends occurred in Milano. From unusual models to technology (Prada spoke of Virtual Reality while Armani introduced it’s brand new touchscreen smart watch) and from nineties influences to crazy head pieces and boiler suits, here are our Milan Fashion Week highlights.

1. Anyone can be a model
Garderners, convicts, musicians and social influencers were walking the runway in Milan. Canadian pop star (and millennial) Shawn Mendes closed the Emporio Armani show. Former prison inmate Jeremy Meeks walked the runway for Philipp Plein. A landscape gardener from Bulwell, Kai Taylor, took his chances as a Versace model. And of course Dolce & Gabbana formed an army of social influencers (including Raury who protested on the D&G runway).

2. Logomania
Big logo’s and brand names are still a thing and go hand in hand with the nineties revival trend (another gift that keeps on giving). And of course Dsquared, Dolce & Gabbana, Philipp Plein and Versace are the brands most likely to keep that logo look alive. And why shouldn’t they. The simplest branded T-shirts (like that sold-out-everywhere Gucci tee before and the VLTN T-shirt at Valentino now) are making those brands lotsss of money.

3. Boiler suits
Boiler suits, jumpsuits or just matching pants and shirts (that appear to be overalls) are about to become every guy’s go to look for upcoming summer. Workwear inspired, but not entirely suitable for the office.

4. Go shorty
Time to show off some leg boys. Short shorts are the new trend. Luckily for those in doubt there are still tons of shorts-options out there. Diesel paired it’s shorts with leggings, Marni offered a patchwork short, Dsquared suggested some leather boots underneath and at Emporio Armani the shorts were double layered. Long story short: there’s something out there for every man.

5. Hats off
Head pieces came through in all shapes and sizes. So what will it be? A velvet cap (Versace) a Dsquared beanie, Emporio Armani’s leather straps or the only hat fit for a social king, a Dolce & Gabbana crown? Pieces to make or break your summer 2018 outfit. Or at least drive your Instagram account into a frenzy.
