Bas Kosters Backstage AIFW FW2011
What a great show it was yesterday! And we really had a good time. Backstage the atmosphere was party-like, amazing paradise-birds were parading and colors were everywhere. The make-up artists did a great job as did the students who made the flowerdecorations.

Last season braids were already a big hit on the catwalk. Now braids have become very common in real live as well. So to step it up a notch fashion designers opted for a more complex hairdo. Their hair artists came up with the most creative braids.
– on top of the models head (Chisato)
– fishtail braids (Schwab)
– braids that ended in a bun (Max Mara)
– with colored hair (Asish)

Beauty Trends FW2010: Au naturel

We’ve seen the dark eyes, the red lips, the colorful & the extreme make-up. Yet another big trend that is quite the opposite of that all is the natural look.
At Jil Sander, CNC, Vanessa Bruno, Byblos and Diesel the au naturel look was spotted. Light pink lips, no blush, no mascara, nothing to distract you from the beautiful clothes that came down the runway. The models all worked their most natural look, with a little help from the make-up artists of course.

You need some guts to pull it off, yet if you work colorful make-up the right way, you’ll sure look stunning. Opt for red or pink eyeshadow (not too much though, you don’t wanna look like a vampire), some deepblue lashes and brightcolored lips.
Need some inspiration? Take a look at the Manish Arora models or get inspired by new rapper sensation Nicky Minaj, who is all about the bright colors.

In Europe the ballet movie Black Swan is not yet released. But we did already pick up on the new ballerina-trend. Along with the tight bodies, feathers and tutu’s the ballet buns are THE trend of upcoming spring/summer.
Wear it tight or messy, on top of your head or on the side, this bun will look super chic!
Next week we’ll show you how many great designers interpreted the ballet-trend for spring/summer 2011.
Beauty Trends FW2010: Extreme make-up

The make-up artists at John Galliano, Frankie Morello, Vivienne Westwood and Unique must have enjoyed prepping the models for their runway walk. The girls’ faces were true pieces of art with bright colors and extreme details.
At Unique the models were covered with facial hair. John Galliano gave his models a orange/pink tan + dark lips and the girls in Vivienne Westwood’s fairytale had bright pink lips.

Beauty Trends FW2010: Dark Eyes
January 5, 2011 by Jetty

Though the make-up we see this season is rather light, dark eyes are always a hit on the runway. Wheather you’re opting for a mysterious look (like the models at Blumarine), a sensual look (like the models at Diane von Furstenberg and Bottega Veneta) of a powerfull appearance (like the models at DSquared).
If you don’t want your eyes to be superdark, add a little bit of color. Perhaps a shade of blue or green to enlighten your look.
We suggest not leaving the house with black Rick Owens eyes. Yet for any Halloween party they should be great fun.
Check out our beauty pics for some inspiration. And if you don’t know how to create smokey eyes, on Youtube you can find tons of Do It Yourself videos, in which the whole proces is explained.
