Candle light, peaceful music, the smell of sage, a glass of wine and enchanting wedding dresses; a romantic setting awaited us at the Edwin Oudshoorn presentation on Sunday. Wooden mannequins (in dramatic poses) instead of models sported his brand new all white bridal collection. Dresses, capes, jackets, veils, head pieces and shoes with the most stunningly (and some even 3D printed) delicate details. Dream designs for a fairytale wedding.

Remember the seated fashion show we wrote about half a year ago? They were back this Sunday with a brand new Sue collection. A contemporary, wearable collection in line with current trends. Trends like denim with patches, sportive oversized sweaters, hoodies, retro aviator glasses, star prints, sailor caps, bandanas, leopard prints, berrets and studded leather. Items any young woman would look cool & collected in, yet adjusted to the ladies in a wheel chair. Very high street, a collection of what’s hot right now ready to be shot, shared and tagged on Instagram.

SIS by Spijkers en Spijkers Catwalk Fashion Show Amsterdam Fashion Week

For fall/winter 2017/2018 the Spijkers en Spijkers sisters were inspired by the images of and stories about Studio 54, a big New York nightclub that was at it’s peek around the seventies and has been a source of inspiration for many designers. This lead to a great diversity of both color and materials used on signature Spijkers en Spijkers pieces like graphic dresses, blouses, skirts and cardigans. Lurex Ajour knits with stripes, jacquards with flame patterns and wild graffiti prints as well as pop art prints with the words ‘Revolution’ and ‘Love’ gave the designs a certain seventies feeling. Brand new were the jeans that turned out to be part of label’s latest denim collection. A complete line up of models dressed in a nude T-shirt (spelling the words FITIN&STANDOUT) and one of the new denim jeans made sure this SPIJKERS launch didn’t get unnoticed. And well.. they nailed it. But those audience members planning on packing up after that denim finale had to have some more patience, since the show wasn’t quite over yet… In fact, they were in for a treat as the complete Gashouder was turned into one gigantic pop-up mansion party (a preview of the L.A. inspired DILLIH party scheduled for the 4th of March). Think: chandeliers, dancers, balloons, a pop-up bar and Joost van Bellen in his DJ booth spinning some disco classics. As all show attendees were invited onto the catwalk -turned-dancefloor the party could really get started. And like all those epic Saturday nights at Studio 54 decades ago it would become a night to remember…

ASTRID ELISEE ft. Mick Keus Catwalk Fashion Show Amsterdam Fashion Week

It was Astrid Elisees first time showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam but the Dutch designer, who previously lived in and worked from Bali, didn’t fail to impress. She presented a collection divided into three categories (key, classics and limited). The same way someone would divide his/her own wardrobe. A silk jumpsuit belonged in the Key-item category, while a boyfriend T-shirt would be a classic and one of the limited pieces would have been a graphic printed suit. Elisees designs are all about wearability and sustainability, so the silhouette is quite loose and the sustainable silk she uses is of a high quality and sand washed. The overall feeling of the collection was classic and very feminine. Designs most of the Dutch women would feel comfortable and beautiful in, so this won`t be the last thing you`ve heard from Astrid Elisee.

Ala Blanka by Anbasja Blanken Catwalk Fashion Show Amsterdam Fashion Week

Ala Blanka wasn’t your average womenswear catwalk show. The show was evolved around luxury trousers Anbasja Blanken has been focusing on as a designer. And so her collection visualised the shape and movement of a selection of some good looking pants designed for strong, elegant women. Anbasja combined soft pastel shades with special structured fabrics. Inpspired by dance influences from ‘la danseuse de la Belle Epoque’ she came up with sheer pants, shiny pants, embroidered pants, pleated pants and peplum pants. All based around the idea that a design should elegantly move together with the body and all of them made a definite fashion statement. The finale piece, a pair of bridal trousers looked so ravishingly chic many women might consider ditching the classic white dress for their marriage after tonight.
