Inspired by the thousand and one night stories Alexandra Frida presented her fall/winter collection for 2017 this Friday night. It was Scheherazade, a mysterious, Persian queen who told her husband a story with an open ending every single night, Alexandra had in mind when designing. This lead to lots of layering and a focus on the colors black, gold and pink. Airy, lightweight fabrics such as silk and lace represented the queen’s sensual side, while leather harnesses and details such a knitted ruffles, embroideries and beads stood for Scheherazade’s power. Alexandra also brought back her iconic feather print, symbolizing wings that give women the strength and faith to chase their dreams. A collaboration with Eye Wish Opticiens lead to all models sporting a pair of glasses. Glasses given a fun fashion twist with some of Alexandra Frida’s impressive 3D printed glasses accessories. And as the sounds of Arabian wedding singing / screaming continued Scheherazade’s women strutted along. No finale of evening gowns and wedding dresses, but a catwalk show with and open end.
